Baby Drops Dress

The pattern is a "Drops Pattern". Their patterns are numbered, no clever names. Knitting this beautiful dress in Sirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo DK. In a purple color way. I bought 4 balls, I hope it will be enough to make the dress and bonnet. The picture is of the skirt portion of the dress, It is knit in one piece from the bottom up. The pattern has longsleeves, I will alter the pattern to be sleeveless for a summer baby. - This is coming together wonderfully! Very quick knit! One week from start to finish - I should have the crochet border finished tomorrow then it will be complete, aside from blocking.

Going Green

So, to follow suit with the going green movement I have decided to knit a couple market bags. OMG they have been such a struggle. But now that I seem to have the pattern down its getting easier. So, hopefully I can get a few of these puppies cranked out before I stop knitting for 2 months again. Haha! Finished my first one on 5/1/09. They are nice bags, hopefully the second one will be easier to make now that I have gone through the pattern once. Knitted with Knitpicks simply cotton in marshmallow, malted milk, ginger and toffee. Yummy!

Stalled out!

Well, it seems I've hit a brick wall. I haven't been interested in knitting for the past few weeks. Just picked up my needles again today and started a new project. *eventhough my other mittens aren't done* I needed a change of scenery. I was bummed that the mittens I was making wern't going to fit anybody I knew. So, with 8 rows left to the fingertip and a single thumb, I gave up and started a new project. I was kind-of hoping spring would come and I could put my mittens aside for fall, no such luck. It's still f*cking cold. Where the hell did spring go? Are you coming back at all?? So, more mittens. Started MY mittens maybe the fact that they are MINE will keep me going....... ahh who knows?! Better keep knitting before I give up entirely.. haha.

Selbuvotter NHM #1

Dug some Knit Picks Bare and Essentials Tweed (blue) out of my stash and started knitting! I couldn't wait for my yarn to arrive for the pair I will knit myself. Using size 2 needles, they seem VERY small! I am quite sure my gauge must be off ALOT! They look more like they will fit my 3 yr old son instead of being a "womens medium". Oh well, they are after all just practice, and better I find out now than when my other yarn gets here. Still totally thrilled about learning the new technique. These mittens really are extraordinary! - Will post pictures when I have a mitten done.

Selbu Attempt NHM #5 (swatch)

So, I ordered the book "Selbuvotter, Biography of a Knitting Tradition". It is all about knitting "selbu" style mittens. Absolutely beautiful mittens! I got the book in the mail Friday! YAY! So I hurried up and finished Nicoles scarf.. the scarf that took me forever! I was up till 12:30 Friday night finishing this thing so I could start a new project!!! Saturday I went out and bought the teeny-tinyest needles I've ever seen and sat down and made my very first attempt at "fairisle" knitting. I need to perfect my technique, but I'm in love. I am sure I say this about every new thing I learn.. but WOW. It is so beautiful. These will make GREAT gifts! (ME FIRST THOUGH!) I promised myself the first pair! HAHA! So, here are the pictures of my very first attempt at fairisle.

Happiness

Ha ha I am such a dork. I got really excited over the fact that my new favorite website www.ravelry.com has asked me if they could use my photo of the Misha Baby Dress I made as the "featured photo"! Awesome!
